Joe Biden is anti-oil and anti-Alberta

If Democratic nominee Joe Biden is elected president of the United States in November, there will be significant negative consequences for Western Canada. He has promised to aggressively fight climate change by having the US rejoin the Paris Accord, and to dramatically reduce carbon emissions by supporting so-called “green energy.” He will also reinstate and strengthen environmental regulations that President Trump dismantled, which will hamper fossil fuel development.

Biden is strongly opposed to the Keystone XL oil pipeline project that would carry crude oil from Alberta to the American Gulf Coast. Biden said, “I've been against Keystone from the beginning. It is tarsands that we don't need — that in fact is very, very high pollutant.” As vice-president, Biden strongly supported President Obama’s efforts to block the pipeline.

Killing the Keystone XL pipeline would mean killing the jobs and economic well-being of thousands of Albertans. This would involve long-term economic harm to Alberta and Western Canada.

Joe Biden’s vice-presidential running mate Kamala Harris is even worse. Harris supports the Green New Deal which purports to fight climate change by ending the use of fossil fuels. The Green New Deal is a socialist fantasy that would soon become a living nightmare if implemented by the US Government. The reduction in economic activity resulting from Green New Deal policies would likely lead to lower oil imports from Western Canada.

Joe Biden is anti-oil, and anti-oil means anti-Alberta and anti-Western Canada.
